This RPG maker game was developed in 2017 by myself and my brother. It was briefly available on the Windows Store and Google Play until 2019 when it was removed. We made it as an experiment to see if we could build a whole game in a…
Recently Unity has fallen out of favor with software developers. No, let me rephrase, they screwed up big time. If you missed the news then let me just say that the board and CEO made a pricing change that was communicated in the most damaging way possible to gamers, developers and publishers trust in Unity.…
If you ever went to an amusement park as a child you remember with joy those moments spent riding roller coasters and waiting in lines with nothing but your anxiety and a severe sunburn to comfort you. Maybe you remember laying down to sleep after a long day of amusement, feeling the rush of crazy…
As far back as I can remember I've loved socializing with anyone and everyone around games. I remember being scared senseless playing Myst on PC in the dark with my brother. I remember connecting two computers via COM cable to play Star Trek Armada. I remember organizing Halo Lan tournaments for my friends. That last…
Editor's note: I originally authored and published the below post on a now defunct site called "The Cool Ship." Enjoy this reprised content! There is a simple question that keeps me up at night, gives me chills and causes me to break out in random cold sweats, where in the world is Carmen Sandiego? You…
You have two types of people, those who know who John Madden is, and those who don’t. For those who don’t, I wonder if they think Electronic Arts conjured the name to use for their NFL themed games. Those who know are the ones who probably remember his…
Person A: "Mega-Riboxord-san is the best, his special attack is un-blockable!" Person B: "No my favorite character is Tim, he has the best combos. I will pwn¹ you!" [steps on soapbox] This fictional dialogue demonstrates the difference of opinion I've seen…
Racing fans, The Cool Ship is jamming it in reverse and taking you back for lap two of the retro racing review. The focus this time is on console racers, as promised, and I also promise to surprise you with my picks. Expecting Gran Turismo? Denied! I used to…

When PC gaming accessory maker, Razer, watches Star Wars, it hears, “help me Razer, you are my only hope,” and apparently it thinks Leia represents the PC gaming community. Now Razer will be restoring the supposed disturbance in the force with their latest…
I just had one of the most fulfilling and despairing experiences of my life, I beat the Japanese RPG Chrono Trigger for the first time. I beat it only to discover that there are 13 different endings, only one of which I unlocked. This is normally good news…
Santa isn’t the jolly old elf you’ve always thought he was. I just played Hunter: the Reckoning Redeemer and found out his true intentions and discovered the source of his magical power over children. Santa is a zombie. You heard me right. Santa is a 15-foot…
I came here to tell you five retro games that don’t deserve to be categorized as games; five games that were once presents for that boy or girl stuck on the naughty list. I came here to warn you. But they got to me. I’m one of the collective now. It hurts so…
The evil emperor Andross is up to his old tricks again, just in time for the holidays. Can Starfox and his loyal troops save the galaxy from peril in time for me to wrap Christmas presents? Ok so that’s not exactly the story behind Starfox 64, but it could…
Boomshakalaka! Glass shattering, elbow throwing, high jumping basketball for up to four players--NBA Jam defines a genre and inspires some of the best moments us gamers have ever experienced. NBA Jam has always been my basketball video game yardstick, to…
Less of a game and more a coin-dropper, Altered Beast steals your money and laughs, “welcome to your doom!” We’re going back to 1988 this week in retro, a time when arcades were still frequented despite Nintendo’s home gaming console hitting the market. You…
Descent burrows its way back from the depths of time and shines like a diamond on Windows 7. The game has no upgrades, graphics or frills by today’s standards, but it pulls you in as if it had the X-wing vs Tie Fighter or Ace Combat name behind it. I had…
Raptor: Call of the Shadows sounds like a perfect title for a dinosaur horror game lost in the 90s, but this vertical scrolling 2D shooter isn't extinct yet. Apogee games was no stranger to shooter games, having already developed Duke Nukem I & II prior to…
